Tomb4.exe keeps crashing and wanting to "send error report" to Microsoft - I'm using the patch and playing in compatibility OS 2000 (because 95 and 98 said it couldn't load directX) - any suggestions? Is there another patch out there that's been updated maybe?

Hey Jen
I mailed you some info, but not sure if it will help. Basically firewalls or anti virus progs can cause a prob... If exe is crashing that's normally a script prob, or conflict with another prog.. I'll try ur save games if u like and see what happens my end, but i feel sure its a prob with ur PC, like something else just doesnt like running with the Tomb4exe... I have XP and use XP Patch, set to win 98 only if i have bad graphics.. You can also try updating direct x and see if that helps, as u have just done a new HDD and windows install something may well need updating

When The Tarot kept crashing, it seemed that it didn't matter which direction Lara went, tomb4.exe would crash after about 5 second of loading - I could have tried a previous load I guess, but didn't think of it, just found it odd that it would shut down and didn't say way.
It did the same thing with another level I played.
I deleted trle and reinstalled it and it seems fine now (touch wood) as I played Canterville and am nearly at the end of "Deep in the Jungle" - fab levels - both of them! Was thinking of doing a walk for Deep in the Jungle, will have to contact the builder for permission.
When I've done Jungle, I'll load Tarot back up and see how I go http://forum.tombrai...tyle_emoticons/default/smile.gif

I went back to Tarot and loaded a previous save and went elsewhere (couldn't go to that room where it would crash as it would crash), went everywhere I could go without entering the room where tomb4.exe would crash, and it was fine - the room was fine, did a bit and then it crashed
would reload and it was fine, then crash a bit later on - eventually did what I had to to carry on and got past it then no problems again (so far anyway - still doing it) - but it seems it must be something with that room that's the problem, but it's intermitent too.

A ha! Just found this in the walkie of The Tarot:
"[Note: Eventually you will have to come back and deal with these 4 skeletons, as it appears that avoiding them makes the level crash later on in the game. The walkthrough deals with disposing of them after collecting both gems and more shotgun ammo.]"
I didn't take care of the skellies but avoided them.
Then there's this:
"[Note: Another cause of level crashing appears to be completing certain tasks in the wrong order (or perhaps not in the same order as was intended by the author). I have discovered that placing the gems and obtaining the Pharos Knot before proceeding to collect the Stars avoids a level crash later on in the game. The walkthrough is therefore written to deal with these tasks in this order.]"
Which probably explains why, when I went elsewhere and came back to the room with problems, it was ok (though crashed intermittently, not as much as before, because the skellies were still about).
It's all ok now though http://forum.tombrai...tyle_emoticons/default/wink.gif
Thank gawd it's not cos of my set- up - yay!
