I have many different feelings about this remake. I feel uneasy about Crystal Dynamics doing the remake. They say it's all in the name of Tomb Raider and it's ten years... but they've only been around for one of them. Don't get me wrong, Crystal Dynamics are good in their own style of game, but as far as I'm concerned, they weren't made to make Tomb Raiders. I went mad on planet Lara on THIS THREAD (there's a screenshot from the game on it) trying to emphasise why I'm more against Dynamics for making the remake of not only any Tomb Raider, but the legendary one that started the saga... the reason is that they were quite a failure with Tomb Raider Legend. There was so much missing and it just felt like a plagiarized Tomb Raider version of Duke Nukem. There was no advneture in it whatsoever. So this means that Dynamics all of a sudden know how to not only make a Tomb Raider, but try and bring forward the escence of the first ever classic game that opened the doors? I have my doubts, very high ones. This also wasn't very appealing...
"Every time a new Tomb Raider game has been released, the fans have asked for a remake of the original. We have gone a step further; we have taken the original story and made a completely new version for Tomb Raider Anniversary." ~ The C/D team.
Change the story? This is already sounding like Tomb Raider Legend II to me. I'm not convinced... still. It's early yet. What do you all think?

I agree with you in everything.
Nothing is sacred when big money is involved. Eidos noticed Crystal Dynamics makes games that bring more money, so the story, braid, what ever Tomb Raider was before means nothing to them. They already changed Lara's history remember?

I think it's going to be great, I really hope they will keep Larson, Pierre, Natla and Winston. It will even be great without grappling hook, but I am so excited about new graphics.
It can be cool if they also include original version on the disk but modify it so it can run under xp

I hated the grapple so I hope it isn't any here near the remake still dunno I hope they don't total butcher it and make a mess of what is a true classic imo!

I also hated that silly grapple thing, i much prefered the old one from TR5 where it was used in the weapons section, unlike TRL where we had yet another frustrating fumble around the keyboard to use it.. grrgrr!
As for the AE, i was so thrilled when i saw there was going to be this remake, but after seeing the video clip of it, i think its just going to be a rip off of an old and very much loved game, turned into a slap happy TRL add on... I hope i'm wrong, but if not i will be waving goodbye to this new Tomb Raiding system once and for all

I hope it's going to be great... then it would bring back some of the enthusiasm in playing I was missing recently

I agree with The_Original_Tomb_Raider. The original TR team made the games and for me was quite challenging. This last game by CD, was not a challenge. CD does not no how to make a TR game. I think we should put it back into the original TR teams hands.

Question is..... will we be buying it?
I've always rushed to the store for the new TR releases, and paid full price because i was soooo desperate to play them.. i was taken in by the TRL demo, i wasnt sure tho if i could hack a full game with those tacky controls but i rushed out to buy it even so.. Played it, liked bits of it, joked about it, moaned about it, and even made a P take song about it..
I have no incentive to load it up ever again, but I still fell for the hype, and knowing me, i'll do it again just because it has Tomb Raider written on it
