BRAD PITT and partner ANGELINA JOLIE have something more to celebrate this holiday season - the pair have issued thanks for their 2009 Golden Globe Award nominations after they both landed nods in the best acting categories.
The Hollywood couple are both up for awards with Jolie nominated for the Best Performance By An Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in Changeling and Pitt receiving a Best Actor nod for his performance in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, event organisers announced on Thursday (11Dec08).
Jolie will compete against actresses Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Kristin Scott Thomas and Kate Winslet in the category.
She tells Entertainment Tonight, "I am honoured to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press in a category with so many extraordinary women. What an amazing experience, having the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood on a film I care so deeply about."
Meanwhile Pitt will fight for his honour with Leonardo DiCaprio, Frank Langella, Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke.
He adds, "I am pleased to be nominated for this award and would like to also congratulate (director) David (Fincher), (writer) Eric (Roth) and (composer) Alexandre (Desplat) on their nominations. We're all very proud of the film and thankful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognising our work."
