Anyone ever think of writing crossover fanfic? Say Lara meets Indiana Jones; or maybe Jackie Chan in his cartoon form? Or even meet Sydney from the old series Relic Hunter? Jonny Quest? Scooby Doo? Possibilities are endless! : )

Maybe that should be the topic for the next fan fic competition on tombraider.ws , what you think? I know, been ages since our last competition - but I think we can hold one next month or so.

This sounds like fun. A Crossover Story Challenge? As long as the "What With" is left open I'd love to see this made to work with all of the fandoms that could be used. Imagine, Lara Croft has a very bad day alongside Jack Bauer? Indiana Jones and Lara Croft find themselves working together to foil a Nazi plot thanks to the fact that the artifact they're after exists outside of space and time as we know it? Lara finds herself going toe to toe with the Alias crew on a hunt for Rambaldi artifacts? Lara discovers that a mythical artifact has never been officially found because its hidden on an island its supposedly impossible to leave once you set foot on it, only when she gets there she discovers that a strange man called Richard Alpert needs her to do him a favour before he'll show her how to leave the island with what she came for? Maybe Lara is exposed to some unknown Virus during one of her adventures and discovers that her only chance of survival is to team up with the Fringe team and find out just what really hit her?

The possibilities go on and on. Here are some I would personally like to see attempted:

Lara Croft meets the BPRD of the Hellboy world-comics, not films-trying to find her way down into the Hollow Earth.

Lara Croft/Perfect Dark-just what would Lara make of the Perfect Dark world? More to the point, what would she make of Joanna "Perfect" Dark herself-if she's even still alive in 2020-2023?

Lara meets the "Bones" crew when she discovers the body of a Murder victim who she suspects she knows. However, given just where the body was found and the circumstances can even Brennan and team crack this one?

Lara Croft meets Helen Magnus and team from "Sanctuary" on an adventure. What would Lara make of meeting a 157 year old Scientist and Explorer like Magnus who deals with the Supernatural and monsters on a daily basis?

That's it, for now at least. Lets see what happens next.

Just my opinion really, but I like Lara's uniqueness so I wouldn't really want to see her merged with sundry super heroes. But I do see that people might get bored of trawling through more Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology. BUT there is still African legends (eg: Queen of Sheba, ruins of Zimbabwe) and North American Indian Legends that could provide her with more adventures, in the ususal spectacular locations. You'd just need to throw in some new rivals on a par with Natla, etc and some angle with her father's research. I think that there is still some mileage in the Croft adventures, mainly because game writers lost the plot a bit with Chronicles (they wanted to push out another game, but couldn't think of a good story line), and AOD, which was a real departure from the spirit of the original and Ms Croft needs to be firmly re-established in her original role as an independent, exreme archealogical adventurer.

Hmm... I can't say I don't see a point in your words Gabi. But question still stands: what will be the topic for our fan fic contest? At this moment, we have two options: crossovers, or new stories involving new mythologies [as you pointed out Gabi]. Any other suggestions?

I have one: a "Death of Lara Croft" Contest. What would be the most appropriate/inappropriate way for Lara to die? The trick, of course, would be that, whatever happened to her, she wouldn't actually be dead. Anyone else?

A Tomb Raider/Pitfall crossover would make an easy, natural fit. Lara Croft and Pitfall Harry are somewhat similar characters.

In fact, it sounds like fun, I just might write that...

Everyone has their favourites, anyone interested in them should write a story set around our favourite Tomb Raider to show why. However, as to where did all the old Writers go who everyone knew and enjoyed the work of? Their still out there, they've just moved on to other things. Hence the Competitions, to find the next wave of TR writers, no?

Is this Competition ever going to actually happen, by the way? I saw somewhere that a Notice had been sent out concerning matters, but I don't seem to have recieved it?
